In this topic, I wanna to say about the X-Ray Spectra, How they are radiate on short wavelength and produce the fast moving beam of electrons and stop the high number of targets.
X-rays are the electromagnetic radiations of short wavelength (1A°). They can be produced when a fast moving beam of electrons is stopped by a target of high number. They were accidently discovered by the Germen professor W.K. Roentgen in 1895, so they also called Roentgen rays.
There are two types of X-rays spectra:
- Continuous spectra
- Characteristics spectra
- Continuous Spectra:
Such type of spectra is produced by the retardation of those bombarding electrons which could not eject electrons form the target nuclei. It consists of all the wavelengths of different frequencies as shown in the below.
- Characteristics spectra:
Such type of spectra is produced when the bombarding electrons from the target nuclei.
For example: When a bombarding electrons eject an electrons from K shell, a vacancy is created in K. An electrons form the L, M, N … shell may jumped into K shell to fill the vacancy and hence X-Ray photon is released. It form K groups or K series of X-rays spectra. Similarly when a bombarding electron eject an electron from L shell, a vacancy is created in L shell. An electrons from the M, N, … shell may jump into L shell to fill the vacancy and hence X-Ray photon Is released. It form L group or L series of X-Ray spectra and so on.
